It all began around 2006-
setting up at my kitchen table, my front porch, backyard.. where I taught small art classes because I simply loved creating with kids!

Before long, my car looked like a mobile art studio (and every car after) as I traveled to schools teaching after-school art programs, packed up for birthday parties, and said “yes” to just about every creative adventure that came my way!

Fast forward to 2013-
I wasn’t really looking for a studio (hadn’t even been saving to look for one) but one day while hosting after school art classes, someone asked if I’d be interested in moving my little art dream into an available space.
I thought, “why the heck not??” Well…
It turned out to be a dog grooming business…

But somewhere between the dog tubs and grooming tables, I could already picture the way I’d set up my studio, and I could envision children making art around the tables. I could also envision less of a traveling art studio in my car!! (That part never came to fruition)
Well, with lots of imagination, more hard work than even a Capricorn (me) wants to take on and more than a few late nights, that little space became the home of
Paper Scissors Cake Art Studio!!

Over the years, we’ve welcomed thousands of young artists through our doors, celebrated roughly 5,000 birthday parties, hosted countless summer camps, and watched so many children discover creativity they never knew they had!
Some of those little artists who came through our doors years ago are now grown up, some have come to work at the studio, some have younger siblings who now attend classes too! Watching families return year after year has been one of the greatest gifts this little dream has given me!

These days you’ll usually find me dreaming up the next camp theme, teaching a class, rearranging the studio shelves for the hundredth time, or convincing myself I don’t need one more shade of pink paint!!!

P.S. If you stop by the studio, don’t be surprised if I tell you about my Boston Terriers, my grown kids (one who you may be lucky enough to have teach your child) or show you a picture of my grandson. Fair warning…I tend to brag about them all! 😊
